买东西,吃东西 holiday to Bangkok

Had our end of year trip to nearby Bangkok in end Nov. Decided to make it a free and easy trip with little travelling locally. Kept it mainly to Bangkok city with the main aim to do some shopping as well as good food along the way. Weather was fine without the rain which i experienced 10 years back in my first trip to the city.

The hotel we stayed at, Hotel Ibis. A three star hotel with minimum frills but comfortable nevertheless. The first 2 days was less pleasant mainly due to the proximity to the residential building beside the hotel and dear claimed that she heard drunk people shouting at night. Which I didn't cause I was deep asleep.

One of our fav in Bangkok. Swensen. Nothing beat a cool ice cream in humid and hot Bangkok and it is at least 50% cheaper than S'pore.

Korean BBQ in Bangkok. the food is fresh and nicely marinated coupled with a great ambience and nice smoke suction system.

Dear is damn scared of the potential burst of oil.

The loot from the 3 days of shopping.
Round off our last night in BKK with a great steamboat dinner.
Glad to make it back to Singapore safely. The Thai anti-govt supporters took control of the airport 1 day after we left. Heng ah.
For more photos of our short trip, do drop by our picassa posting.

Our very own Christmas Tree

Dear been wanting her own Christmas Tree all these while and so we decided to get one for our own home.

Didn't want to get an overwhelming tree for fear of cluttering our cozy home. Hence the smaller cute tree which will be more managable as well.

Some cute but traditional decoration to light up the bare tree. Found these nice figurine at Daiso at just $2 each.

Put our little toys into good use in decorating the bottom of the tree. Should have some new additions to the trees. Maybe powerpuff girls..haha

Our favorite Steamboat

With the home decor and cleaning are settled, it leaves us more time to start creating some wonderful meals and memories. And what better than to do a steamboat dinner rite at home.

The whole meal is filling and warm to our belly and more importantly will not burn a hole in our pocket. All this for less than $20 with leftover for another meal.
